This is me

My name is Sarah Nele, and I am an aspiring apparel designer and graduate of Louisiana State University's Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising program. I currently live in Lafayette, Louisiana, and I am looking to wander into a new phase in my life.  After taking four years to complete my undergraduate degree, and a slight detour due to two years of global pandemic pandemonium, it is time for me to leap further into my career and begin acquiring the necessary experiences of the fashion industry.

My infatuation with design begins over a decade ago, when my grandmother patiently introduced me to the world of patterns and sewing. From that point, I was never able to shake the idea of pursuing a future in design, as the glamour, buzz, and craft of the fashion industry became my beck and call.

My true foray into apparel design began four years ago, and with it began a remarkable journey that superseded my life-long expectations. Although I have always had a penchant for the creative process of any artistically-related endeavor, I have developed an extensive appreciation for the entire scope of creativity. In other words, I have come to recognize myself as an avid learner, a connoisseur of knowledge if you will. In turn, this insatiable desire to learn has fueled my love of research, observation, and analysis. The gratification from applying my newfound discoveries into my work is truly an unparalleled feeling. I am eager and excited to carry on this unbounded pursuit of knowledge into my future career, and hope to gain as much experience with it as possible.

Services & skills

I manifest creativity.

I have acquired various skills across the areas of communication, collaboration, digital programs, presenting, pattern making, illustrating, researching, and sewing. Specifically, I have become proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator in order to develop mood boards, line boards, digital fabric prints, and technical flats; flat pattern making and draping; and digital pattern making via Optitex. In combination with these skills, I have been progressively introduced to the process of producing thorough and accurate technical packages for all of my assigned garments. To bolster these technical skills, I have fine-tuned my communication, collaboration, and presentation abilities, in an effort to maintain cohesion across my growth and development while at LSU.
